2016 Turkey Trot

~CONTENT POWERED BY ANTELOPE BUTTE FOUNDATION~

Do you like turkeys? Of course you do. Why’d we even ask? Do you like trotting? Again, another natural yes. So, here’s what we’ve got for you. A way to perfectly marry these two things. You guessed it: The 38th Annual Turkey Trot.

Thanksgiving is a time for us to reflect on that which makes us grateful. And you know what? We’re grateful for you, Sheridan. A few enterprising Sheridanites recognized this, and 38 years ago they started the turkey trot, a community event wherein we come together for food, fun, prizes, and to help with a charitable cause.

Said Katie Christopherson, the Race Director for the last three years, “It’s really a tradition where we can come together, have fun, and support our community.” The Trot is sponsored in large part by local businesses. The Sports Stop, First Interstate Bank, and Core Physical Therapy among others have lent their support monetarily, as well as providing prizes. The runners at the Turkey Trot can win prizes such as: an archery set from Rocky Mountain Discount Sports, apparel from Big Horn Design, a gift certificate from Twisted Hearts among others.

The running programs at SHS and SJHS will be benefitting this year, with proceeds appropriately going to pay for winter gear for the teams. The Turkey Trot will be held tomorrow, November 24th. Registration starts at 9:00 AM, and costs are $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.  Said Christopherson, “It’s at the perfect time! You can come out, enjoy the festivities, have some fun, and then go home just in time for turkey!”

The Turkey Trot has a history of bringing Sheridan together to have fun and support each other as a community. So, what are you waiting for? Go get your trot on!
