Christmas has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop watching our favorite Christmas themed movies. Although it doesn’t have an annual 24-hour marathon like A Christmas Story does, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is an all-time Christmas classic. One of the reasons for its popularity is how wacky the characters in the show are. So in honor of the Griswolds, we’re matching up Wyoming towns with the characters of Christmas Vacation that best embody several towns around the state.
Clark Griswold – Cheyenne
For Clark, the main man in charge, we choose Cheyenne. As the state’s capital, we look to Cheyenne and our state’s leaders much like the Griswold’s look to Clark to solve their problems. However, just as Clark’s Christmas lights don’t always work, our state’s capital doesn’t always produce the desired outcome. But at the end of the day, Cheyenne gets the job done and just as the Griswolds are proud to call Clark their dad, we are proud to call Cheyenne our capital.
Ellen Griswold – Sheridan
Much like Sheridan, Ellen is full of beauty and has a great personality. We might be a little biased here, but we still think it’s a fair valuation.
Audrey Griswold – Gillette
If you’ve ever seen the movie, you understand. She no one’s favorite character but she’s still a vital part of the family.
Rusty Griswold – Laramie
Even though we don’t learn that Rusty likes chugging beer until a different National Lampoon’s Vacation movie, it’s no wonder why we chose Wyoming’s only true college town to embody Rusty.
Uncle Eddie – Thermopolis
We don’t mean to insult anyone, but if you’ve ever driven through Thermop, you know it smells an awful lot like this scene from Christmas Vacation
The neighbors, Margo and Todd Chester – Jackson Hole
The high fashion, fancy neighbors who seem to be annoyed by everyone else. We get it Margo and Todd, you’re beautiful and cool looking.
